Amboseli National Park is famous for its large elephant herds and the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak. This 3-day, 2-night safari from Nairobi offers an excellent introduction to Kenya's wildlife and landscapes.
Morning: Your driver-guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or the airport around 7:00 AM. You'll drive south through Kajiado County, passing Maasai homesteads and open savanna scenery. The journey takes approximately 5-6 hours with comfort stops along the way.
- Midday: Arrive at Amboseli National Park and check in at your lodge or camp. Enjoy lunch and some time to settle in.
- Afternoon: Head out for your first game drive. Expect to see large elephant families near the swamps and plains, along with zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, and buffalo. If skies are clear, Mount Kilimanjaro will rise dramatically behind the wildlife.
-Evening: Return to camp at sunset for dinner and overnight stay.
- Early Morning: Start with a sunrise game drive. The best time for photography and clearer views of Kilimanjaro's snow-capped peak. Explore the swamp systems where hippos, elephants, and buffalo congregate, plus the open plains for grazers and predators.
- Late Morning: Return to camp for breakfast and leisure time. Depending on your lodge, you might relax by the pool or simply enjoy the views.
- Afternoon: After lunch, head out again to explore different sectors of the park. You may encounter cheetahs, lions, hyenas, and abundant birdlife including flamingos, pelicans, and crowned cranes.
- Optional: Visit a Maasai village (usually around $20 per person, not included in most packages) to learn about local culture.
- Evening: Enjoy sunset over Amboseli's plains before returning for dinner and overnight.
- Early Morning: Final game drive, often rewarding with elephants moving between feeding and water areas, and predators finishing their early activity.
- Mid-Morning: Return for breakfast, check out, and begin the drive back to Nairobi, arriving mid-to-late afternoon.
- Optional: Some tours include a stop at a Maasai village before departing.

“We went on safari in August and it was an unforgettable experience for us. We had the camping option for days. Everything went smoothly and professionally. During the safari we saw all The Big Five and learned a lot about the animals and the local environment.”
